About Master Classes
As musical development is important on every level, Dr.Patricia Stowell works with diverse ages from grade school through high school and college through older adults.
Patricia Stowell is passionate about music and is a devoted teacher who endeavors to bring forth the musicality in each individual. She has presented master classes in the United States as well as in Europe and especially enjoys working with teachers and students together. Patricia works with students of all ages, as soloists or as chamber players. As more of her time has been requested by area teachers, Patricia is also offering classes in the setting of the teacher’s own studio where she works with the teacher’s interactions with the student and invites teachers to pose questions regarding technique, musical phrasing and various additional topics.
When Patricia works with students in a master class, she connects with the performer in a way that brings about transformation; she digs to discover the essence of the music through the soul of the performer. Patricia has presented classes at the Longy School of Music, Brown University, Liliana Dimitrova Cultural Center in Sofia, Bulgaria, The American University in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, the Portland Conservatory of Music (Maine), in addition to other schools.
“When Dr. Stowell hears a student, she instantly knows what is needed to make the music sparkle. Within minutes she is able to transform the student’s technical approach as well as the music itself. The dramatic and swift changes are eventful. She is such an enthusiastic pedagogue that her joy encompasses and changes student, teacher, and audience alike.” — From the studio of teacher Barbara Payson
“Patricia Stowell is an imaginative, passionate, very gifted teacher whose visit to our campus was inspiring to all. Her playing was excellent…College music instruction would be better off with more teachers like her.” — Wes Golightly, Professor of Music, Kentucky Christian College
